ISRO Reschedules Launch of Test Vehicle for Gaganyaan Human Space Flight Mission

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has rescheduled the launch of its maiden Test Vehicle for the Gaganyaan human space flight mission. The uncrewed flight test, which was originally scheduled for a lift-off at 8 am on Saturday, will now be launched at 8:30 am from Sriharikota.

The 13-hour countdown for the mission commenced on Friday at 7pm. The TV-D1 test vehicle is a predecessor to the Gaganyaan programme, which aims to send humans into space on a Low Earth Orbit of 400kms for three days and bring them safely back to Earth.

The test flight will demonstrate the performance of the Crew Escape system as part of the Gaganyaan mission. It will also test the safe landing in the Bay of Bengal after the rocket launch.

ISRO has planned around 20 major tests, including 3 uncrewed missions of the Human Rated Launch Vehicle (HLVM3).

Named after the Sanskrit word for craft or vehicle to the sky, the Gaganyaan project has been developed at the cost of ₹90 billion. If it succeeds, India will become only the fourth country to send a human into space after the Soviet Union, the US and China.

Significance of the Gaganyaan mission

The Gaganyaan mission is a significant milestone for India's space program. It will demonstrate India's capability to send humans into space and bring them back safely. The mission will also pave the way for future human space exploration missions.

The Gaganyaan mission has the potential to inspire a new generation of scientists and engineers. It will also boost India's global standing in the space sector.

Conclusion

The Gaganyaan mission is a bold and ambitious undertaking. It is a testament to India's growing space capabilities. The success of the mission will be a major milestone for India's space program and will inspire a new generation of scientists and engineers.
